History
The Rotary Club of Portage is a direct result of the efforts of Dr. Jack Wu and the Kalamazoo South Rotary Club in the 1960's. Because of the growth of the Kalamazoo South Rotary club, a committee was formed to study the feasibility of organizing a Rotary Club in Portage. This group's recommendation resulted in the Rotary Club of Portage becoming an official organization on February 23, 1967, which is coincidentally the anniversary of the first Rotary Club (Chicago) in 1905.
The Rotary Club of Portage was chartered on March 20, 1967, and celebrated charter night on April 27, 1967.
